Infrastructure is the backbone of economic opportunity and social cohesion. When communities are connected by good roads, reliable electricity, and efficient transport, trade flows, services reach the underserved, and isolation — one of the root causes of conflict — is reduced.
Road Rehabilitation
The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, has prioritised the rehabilitation and construction of key highways connecting state capitals, agricultural zones, and border communities. Several projects in the North Central, South-South, and South-East zones are either completed or in advanced stages, opening up communities that were previously cut off during rainy seasons.
Rail Development
The expansion of Nigeria’s rail network — including the Lagos-Ibadan corridor, the Abuja-Kaduna line, and planned extensions to other major cities — is designed to reduce transport costs, ease pressure on roads, and create economic corridors that benefit communities along the route.
Rural Electrification
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) continues to deploy solar mini-grids and off-grid solutions to communities not yet connected to the national power grid. These projects power homes, schools, health clinics, and small businesses.
