The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) remains one of the Federal Government’s most far-reaching efforts to support vulnerable Nigerians at the community level. With multiple components — including the N-Power youth employment scheme, the Conditional Cash Transfer programme, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), and the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme — NSIP touches millions of households across all 36 states and the FCT.
N-Power
N-Power has enrolled over 500,000 young Nigerians in skills acquisition and volunteer roles across education, health, agriculture, and technology. Beneficiaries receive monthly stipends and practical training that positions them for long-term employment or entrepreneurship.
Conditional Cash Transfer
The programme identifies the poorest and most vulnerable households — particularly those headed by women and elderly Nigerians — and provides regular cash payments to support basic needs while building capacity for economic self-sufficiency.
School Feeding Programme
Over 10 million primary school pupils now receive one free meal per school day, increasing enrolment and attendance while also supporting local food vendors and farmers who supply the meals.
