Makurdi, Benue State, January 2026 — The Endurable Peace and Unity Ambassadors Initiative (ENPUAI) and the Benue State Government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on farmer-herder conflict prevention and resolution across the state.
Under the agreement, ENPUAI will provide conflict resolution training to Benue State officials; the state government will incorporate ENPUAI’s community-level Land Access Protocol into its farm settlements policy; and both parties will co-fund three new community dialogue forums in Guma, Logo, and Gwer West LGAs in 2026.
The signing was witnessed by the Tor Tiv — the paramount traditional ruler of the Tiv people — and by representatives of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, both of whom expressed support for the formalised partnership.
“This MOU is not a solution to the farmer-herder conflict. It is a platform for solutions. The real work happens at the community level — between farmers and herders who decide to talk rather than fight.” — ENPUAI Director of Programmes.
